The intent of this contract is to replace the superstructure on the Temperance River Bridge on low volume Forest Road 166 near Tofte, Minnesota. The project consists of the removal of a two span steel bridge and the construction of a new 105 ft length by 16 ft width glue laminated timber bridge on existing abutments and pier.
The work includes but is not limited to removing and disposing of the structural steel components: the east span, an 80 ft pony truss steel bridge and railing (1910 vintage); the west span, a 25 ft steel bridge and railing. These steel components have lead based paint and special measures are required for demolition and disposal. The work also includes installing erosion control measures; removing and disposing of the treated timber deck; clearing and excavation in the vicinity of the abutments, extension of wingwalls with timber; extension of the existing concrete abutments approximately 2 ft using timber; furnishing and installing timber superstructure including 105 ft glue laminated beams, glue laminated deck system, glue laminated railing systems and all associated hardware; furnishing and installing timber wearing surface; repairing concrete surfaces; furnishing and placing fill and crushed aggregate to raise road approximately 2 ft; clearing and grubbing as required and furnishing and installing approach guardrail systems; furnishing and placing specified riprap; seeding and mulching all disturbed areas and all other incidental items necessary to complete the project in accordance with the plans and specifications.

The NAICS code is 237310 with a size standard of $33.5M.
The Government total estimated value is between $350,000 and $500,000.
Offerors will be evaluated on technical capability (experience), past performance, capacity to accomplish work on time, and price. The Contract will be awarded to the offeror whose submittal, in compliance with the solicitation, is the best value to the Government.

Project Site: Superior National Forest, Tofte Ranger District, Tofte, Minnesota.
Project is accessed by traveling approximately 6 miles North of Tofte, MN on the Sawbill Trail (County Rd 2). The bridge is 150 ft east of the Sawbill Trail at the intersection with Forest Road 166 (600 Road).
