Eskom is the largest producer of electricity in Africa and one of the top seven utilities in the world in terms of generation capacity and among the top nine in terms of sales. Eskom is also responsible for the integration of new renewable power generation into the national grid. In order to facilitate renewables integration, South Africa's electricity infrastructure will require significant investments in smart grid and other grid balancing/integration technologies. Eskom plans to spend more than $150 billion on electricity infrastructure over the 2010 – 2030 timeframe, including $11 billion on transmission sector reliability alone over the next ten years. A Business Briefing with the delegation will be held in Costa Mesa, CA.
